The dog breeds are usually German Shorthaired pointers, Labrador retrievers, German shepherds and Belgian Malinois. Those breeds were picked because of their high levels of "drive," meaning they're super active and love to run around. (Hint, hint: You should love to run around, too, and have a yard your new pet can romp around in.) They range in age between 2 and 10 years old.
But you have to be a special kind of person to get along with these dogs. That's because most of them were raised in kennels, not in homes, and thus might not know how to get along with a family at first. Plus, you have to travel to their home base of San Antonio, Texas to pick up your new fluffy friend.
Back in November, the TSA put out a call for potential dog owners, and the news has gone viral once again. A representative for the TSA says the adoption program is still ongoing, and there are still lovable pups who are up for adoption. If you're interested, contact the TSA Adoption Coordinator at AdoptaTSAcanine@OLE.tsa.dhs.gov.
