It is believed that social media can make us feel connected with friends and family. We all have experienced a pick me up after posting a cute selfie on Facebook or Instagram!
Yet if you are checking in and scrolling through Facebook, Instagram, Twitter more than a few times a day, it may actually dampen your mood, and keep you from getting adequate rest and sound sleep.
In a recent study at the University of Pittsburgh, scientists found out that people who check social media most often times a week are 2.7 times more likely to have depression, compared to those who check least frequently.
Another study, published in Preventive Medicine Journal, found that frequent users are three times more likely to have sleep disturbances than those who scroll less often- even if they are not surfing right before bed.
While researchers say the jury is still out on what's causing what - does depression or insomnia cause us to hop on social media to fill a void, or is social media creating the void?
What do you think?

"Margarita Zhemukhova very quickly found us the property we were looking for at a price we could afford. In working with her we found her to be always available to meet, very prompt in returning e-mails and phone calls (within minutes), pro-active in altering us to the next steps in closing and a pleasure to work with. I would definitely use her again and recommend her to anyone needing real estate services.
