Hey Vern! Know whatta mean? Growing up, I heard that phrase all too many times. Years later, I hear "can you give me a hand? My generator won't start." This is 2 days prior to Irma showing up. So, this is what happened to a friend recently. Newer, barely used generator won't start- has plenty of gas though. Problem was the fuel is over a year old! With no additives. Needless to say, they were out of luck with no backup power. Her's how to properly store your generator once Hurricane season is done.
- Completely drain the fuel
- Burn off the remainder
- Drain the oil, refill & change the filter if applicable
-Remove spark plug, fill cylinder with 1/2 oz. of oil, cover the plug hole with a rag, crank the generator a few times to lubricate
-Re install the plug & place in storage
When the gas is left in the tank & not used, it can "gum up" This can cause internal damage to the parts causing malfunction & therefore, not starting. There are some additives or stabilizers that can be added to the fuel to prolong storage, but is not recommended for an extended period of time & certainly not in the generator tank. Untreated gas usually lasts 90-100 days. Typical repairs of this nature is replacing the carburetor, this can cost $30 to $60 for DIY or $130 to $200 in a repair shop.

"When I sold my home I interviewed many Companies. Knowing most buyers come from the internet I was looking for a Company with a strong internet presence. I googled some terms like, "Lake Worth Homes For Sale" and "homes for sale in Lake Worth", and almost every time Exit Realty Premier was on the first page of Google. Then when I met with the agent from Exit Realty Premier and saw the HD photographs, aerial photos, on line visual tours and videos and all the technology I was sold. I signed with them and sold my home in record time, for the price I wanted and had a smooth quick closing. My agent was very professional and knowledgeable and kept me informed every step of the way.
